The Story: Circle Dance

It began with a movement, not a speech.

One person turned, and another person watching felt the locked part of the mind open. Thought stopped being an argument and became motion. Grace arrived before language did.

They touched. From that touch a single understanding formed: love is not a destination. It is a circle you enter together — turning through time, turning through space, neither one leading so hard that the other disappears.

Around them the old darkness still stood. The shadows that frighten a whole people. Fear that dresses itself as fate. None of that vanished. It simply lost the center.

In the circle there was a chance. Not a guarantee. A chance. To rise. To keep turning when the room wants you still. To let one body remind another that the human race is not only what scares it.

That is Circle Dance. Two figures in color, one measure, and the courage to step in.

The poem is on the face of the work.

Collection: Rhythm and Painted Soul:

Circle Dance is one of those poems and paintings that come from those special moments in art when the mind stops thinking and things just begin to flow into existence. The finished work holds the surprise, the dance arriving before the plan does.
