The Story: Sleep Sweet Child
Night had already settled when she lowered into the chair.
The child was light in her arms and heavy with the day’s last heat. Breath came in a small, even tide against her collarbone. Outside, the world still argued with itself — old wars wearing new names, hatred rehearsing its lines. She did not answer it. She only held what had been given to her and spoke the words the room already knew.
Sleep sweet child of God and mine.
The gold at her brow was not a crown so much as a held light. Planes of crimson, ochre, and cream folded around them like a quilt that had learned geometry. The child’s face, built of quiet triangles, stayed closed. She watched the rise of that small chest and made a vow the poem had been waiting to finish:
When humanity finally rises — when it wakes all the way through — no war and no hatred will be allowed to darken these nights. Love will come the way morning does. Not as a speech. As light.
She stayed until the chair, the child, and the prayer were one still form. Then she let the last line rest where it belonged.
Love will dawn with morning light.

Divine Love Eternal Collection:
“Sleep Sweet Child” is a maternal Painted Poem held in quilted triangular architecture. A seated figure gathers a sleeping child against a field of ember reds and sanctuary gold, while the verse stands in white on the darkened right panel as blessing and shield. Geometry becomes vigil. The canvas does not argue with the age; it keeps watch until love takes the night.
